A stone lithograph c.1970 by Alaska artist R.T. "Skip" Wallen (b.1942) entitled "Gooch Eesh." The work depicts Johnny C. Jackson, a Tlingit Indian from the southeast Alaska village of Kake. The subject is wearing a Chilkat robe he fetched from behind a sack of potatoes in his kitchen pantry at the request of the artist; the robe had escaped the 1912 fires when a local church had encouraged villagers to burn their Tlingit cultural properties. Gooch Eesh, his personal name, means "Wolf Father." Titled lower left, marked 52/100, and hand signed in graphite lower right. Matted within a dark frame measuring approximately 21.5" x 24.75" overall.
