A large format vignette on stretched canvas by the late California artist Joyce Ortner (1939-2015.) depicting her preferred subject, the sea, with single curled wave crashing upon a series of rocks, a trio of seagulls keeping watch for sustenance. Joyce was a friend of Bob Ross, having appeared alongside Ross in season 5 episode 9  of his show The Joy of Painting, the episode titled "Anatomy of  a Wave," as well as appearing in six one hour seascape instructional videos produced by Ross. Signed lower right, and housed in a wide neutral colored frame; personal note en verso circa mid-1980s. Measures approximately 31" x 43" overall.
