The Tactical variant, designed for law enforcement and home defense, enhances the base model with features like a shorter barrel and rugged finishes, making it a go-to choice for practical applications. Chambered in 12 gauge, the 870’s enduring popularity stems from its simple design and adaptability, seeing use in everything from police duty to civilian self-protection for over seven decades. This example, serial number RS73865R, features an 18.5" barrel, chambered for 12 gauge shells up to 3", optimized for maneuverability in close quarters. It includes a synthetic stock and forend, typical of the Tactical model, with a matte black finish for durability and reduced glare. The shotgun has a standard bead front sight and a 6+1 shell capacity in its tubular magazine, weighing approximately 7 pounds and measuring about 38.5" overall. Its pump-action mechanism ensures consistent cycling across a range of loads. In good condition, this Remington 870 Tactical shows moderate wear consistent with use, yet its action remains fully functional. Manufactured in 2008, based on the "RS" serial prefix per Remington’s numbering records, it retains its operational reliability. With its compact tactical design, this shotgun offers a solid option for shooters or collectors seeking a proven performer for defense or utility.
