Manufacturer: Thompson Firearms Type: Rifle/Break Action Model: Encor Pro Hunter Caliber: .270 Win Barrel Length: 26" Optics: Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 ATF Form 4473 Required: Yes Log: 2587 Serial Number (S/N): MAA7882 Reference Number (Ref #): N/A The Thompson Center Encore Pro Hunter, a break action rifle introduced by Thompson Center Arms, builds on the company’s innovative switch barrel system first seen in the Encore platform in 1983. Chambered in .270 Winchester, the Pro Hunter variant enhances the original design with a robust frame and premium features, targeting hunters and shooters who value versatility and precision. Known for its ability to swap barrels and calibers, it reflects Thompson Center’s legacy of adaptable, high quality firearms since the 1960s, appealing to those seeking a single platform for multiple purposes. This example, serial number MAA7882, features a 26" barrel chambered in .270 Winchester, paired with a Nikon Prostaff 3 9x40 scope for reliable long range accuracy. It lacks a detachable magazine, typical of the break action design, relying instead on its single shot capacity. The rifle includes a synthetic stock with Flex tech technology, a stainless or blued finish - depending on the variant - and weighs approximately 7.5 pounds, measuring about 42" overall. Its break action mechanism uses a trigger guard release for easy opening, offering a straightforward, dependable operation suited for the .270 Win cartridge. In good condition, this Encore Pro Hunter shows moderate wear consistent with use, yet remains fully functional, with its scope and box adding to its value. Manufactured circa 2008, based on the "MAA" prefix aligning with early Pro Hunter production runs per Thompson Center’s serial patterns, it dates to the model’s initial years. With its Nikon Prostaff optics included in its box, this rifle provides a solid package for shooters or collectors seeking a versatile .270 Winchester break action.
