A signed and numbered 88/950 print by Alaska artist Fred Machetanz (1908-2002) entitled "Hunter's Dawn", depicting an old Alaskan sourdough trekking on his snowshoes, looking for signs of game or surveying trails for the future. Here we see Ed Ueeck who, in 1961, was named "Mr. Furface" for the finest beard among contestants at the Anchorage, Alaska Fur Rendezvous. Ed spent many years trapping and hunting in the Chugach Mountains of Alaska. With staff helping support him over the trail, it also serves as a support for his rifle when shooting. In winter or early spring in Alaska, the sun is at lower levels much of the day and produces a rose, pink, salmon or "alpenglow" color on the snow-covered landscape. Numbered lower left and signed lower right in graphite by the artist, the print is matted and framed with information about the artist affixed en verso. Measures approximately 29.25" x 32.25" overall.
