A signed and numbered 1/100 silkscreen by Alaska artist Rie Muñoz entitled "Splitting a Walrus Skin", depicting a woman attired in her kuspuk, her right hand gripping her ulu and her left hand gripping the skin of a walrus, stretched and mounted vertically for preparation. Ulu knives are traditionally all-purpose knives used by women for slicing fish, or butchering animals; smaller ulus were used for sewing and other household purposes. In this case, the woman is standing atop a raised platform, leaning backward with visible force as she pulls and separates a long strip from the larger hide. Titled, numbered, signed, and dated by the artist c.1975 across the bottom margin. A small pin hole, top center, is present, as photographed. The painting is accompanied by a note from the Rie Muñoz Gallery that reads "Pin hole by ARTIST! Rie would pin up her unframed originals also." A few areas of discoloration are also present, as shown. Shrink-wrapped on board, the print measures approximately 16" x 14.5" with a sight view of 14" x 12.5".
