A silkscreen image on fabric by Alaska artist Rie Muñoz entitled "Bear-Woman". The work illustrates the legend in which two women went up the mountain every day to snare squirrels, one getting squirrels, the other always stopping at a clearing part way up the mountain and eating berries all day long. One evening, as the woman came down to the clearing with her day's squirrel harvest, she saw her friend on all fours eating berries, and as she approached, her friend turned into a black bear. Titled, numbered, signed, and dated by the artist c.1979 across the bottom margin. The wall hanging has a rod loop sewn into the top edge as photographed. The image was also produced as a limited edition silkscreen on paper c.1979 with the name "Woman-Bear Legend". Tapestry measures approximately 16" x 22.75".
