A silkscreen image on fabric by Alaska artist Rie Muñoz entitled "Raven Legend". The work shows a pair of women, each carrying a large salmon, with a raven trailing behind, carrying his own salmon under his wing. According to legend, Raven fished every day and stored the salmon in a cache, but then he died in an accident. All winter, his two mourning wives lived on the stored fish, and when the supply was finally gone they wondered how they would survive. They solved the problem by turning back into ravens, according to the Athabaskan legend. The wall hanging has a rod loop sewn into the top edge as photographed. The image was also produced as a silkscreen on paper c.1981 and is available in this auction for your bidding pleasure. Tapestry measures approximately 22" x 31".
