Six c.1989 Mylar stencils hand-cut by Alaska artist Rie Muñoz and utilized in the work entitled "Ark in Alaska". The combined stenciled work portrays Noah standing on the bow of his ark, a peace dove flying above his head. Upon and alongside the ark are Alaska-native wildlife including a pair of Canadian geese, an owl, two red foxes, two caribou, two walruses, two halibut, a mermaid, a school of nine fish, a whale, a pair of birds, a seal, and a second group of three salmon. The artist worked on this idea for three or four years, first in her head and then on paper; eventually she achieved the result she was seeking. Stencils are affixed to three boards with registration marks, notes, and cellophane tape as photographed. The original concept and Artist Proof utilizing these stencils is available within this auction for your bidding pleasure. The largest board measures approximately 18.25" x 21.25".
