Part of June 2026 Premier Auction (live auction by Alaska Premier Auctions & Appraisals)
High bid $1,200.00
Status: Sold
Category: Ethnographic Objects
An Alaska Pacific walrus (Odobenus rosmarus divergens) skull and tusk display, representing a subadult animal and retaining a matched pair of naturally curved tusks firmly anchored within the lightly mineralized cranium. The tusks are embellished with a series of inlaid baleen dots by an Alaska Native artisan along the front and outer surfaces. The skull retains six original cheek teeth and four small incisors positioned anterior to the tusks, preserving much of the natural dentition. The broad cranial structure and proportionately modest tusks are characteristic of a younger animal. Surface patina and age-related shrinkage cracks are present throughout, consistent with long-term natural drying and display. Measures approximately 10" x 16" x 10.25" tall. Note Regarding Shipping Services: This item is exceptionally large and/or heavy, and may require custom boxing or crating depending on the intended destination and available carrier services.
