Denomination: $5 Year: 1910 Mint Mark: None (Philadelphia) Actual Weight: 8.36 Grams Actual Gold Weight (AGW): 0.2419 Troy Ounce (7.52 g) Metal Content: 90% Gold, 10% Copper Graded: No Designed by renowned sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt, the Indian Head Half Eagle was struck from 1908 through 1929 and remains one of the most distinctive coin designs ever issued by the United States Mint. Unlike traditional coinage, both the obverse portrait of a Native American chief and the reverse eagle are incuse, with the designs recessed below the surface rather than raised. This innovative approach was unprecedented in U.S. circulating coinage and gives the series its unique appearance and tactile character. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this 1910 example contains 0.2419 troy ounce of gold and is a popular collectible among both numismatists and gold investors for its historic design and classic Pre-1933 U.S. gold status.
