Two "bear with a destination" pieces include a Steiff's Passport Teddy Bear, a 1997 North American limited edition of 3,500 pieces. He is made from blond mohair and was issued with his travel suitcase, clothing, and a passport-style certificate designed to fit inside the suitcase. The bear at right is the Schulanfänger-Bär (School Starter Bear), the Steiff Club Edition for 1998/99, made in pistachio-green mohair with a pink embroidered nose, leather backpack, Club medallion, and traditional German Schultüte school cone filled with treats; Steiff produced 8,730 examples. Both retain their Button in Ear identification and original presentation boxes, with their distinctive accessories making the pair especially appealing examples of Steiff's character-driven collector editions of the late 1990s.
