Created exclusively for Singapore in 1997, Steiff's Raffles Teddy Bear is a 43 cm, five-way jointed bear made from reddish-brown mohair and fitted with a growler. The special edition was limited to 1,847 pieces, a number chosen in reference to the year Singapore founder Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles was born. Its distinctive printed silk neck scarf was designed by Singapore fashion designer Lai Chan and incorporates a lion motif referencing Singapore's "Lion City" name. This example retains its Button in Ear identification and is accompanied by its original presentation box and Certificate of Authenticity.
