A graceful George III-style tilt-top table with a beautifully figured flame mahogany veneer top and a raised, scalloped piecrust edge. Often described as a wine or tea table, this form revisits the mid-18th-century Chippendale vocabulary through late-19th- to early-20th-century revival furniture. The veneer’s feathery flame figure fans across the top in a balanced, mirrored arrangement. The richly patterned top is balanced by a spiral-turned twist stem and a traditional tripod base. Sweeping cabriole legs terminate in elegant pad, or “snake,” feet, giving the compact table an unusually lively silhouette. Light surface marks and small areas of edge wear are visible. The dramatic veneer and flowing outline make it an appealing accent piece as well as an example of enduring Georgian design.
