Two walrus ivory panel bracelets with contrasting approaches to Arctic imagery. The example signed by Iñupiaq artist David Soolook (1932–2010) carries relief-carved and painted polar-bear faces, a walrus and a fox. The second has rounded spacers and an incised narrative of a hunter pursuing a seal with a spear and hauling the catch toward a village. The sculpted animal panels and the continuous scrimshaw story give the two bracelets distinct visual characters within a related material tradition. Larger scrimshaw bracelet approximately 7" in circumference.
