A finely coiled grass basket by Yup’ik basketmaker Florence Clement of Hooper Bay, Alaska. Stepped red and deep purple bands spiral continuously around the rounded body and tall conical lid, accentuating the basket’s graceful rise from its narrow base. A small flared knob finishes the fitted lid. Its crisp shaping and closely worked coils give this compact basket a particularly refined presence. Approximately 3.5" in diameter x 5" tall.
