An impressive umiak model of monumental scale for a miniature skin boat, measuring approximately 40" long. Likely dating to the mid-20th century, it captures the broad, open hull of the traditional transport and hunting boat, with a translucent covering drawn around a clearly articulated wooden framework. Its substantial proportions allow the structure and handwork to be appreciated as a sculptural display in their own right. The covering has age-related tears and losses, particularly along the upper edges and around the frame. A Southeast Alaska Indian Cultural Center pamphlet accompanies the model. Measures approximately 40" x 12" x 7.25" tall.
