A walrus ivory bowhead whale by Siberian Yupik carver Harry Koozaata of St. Lawrence Island, Alaska. The whale’s arched upper jaw and open mouth reveal carefully carved baleen detail, while broad flukes and small flippers define the sleek body. Dark baleen dot inlays accent the polished pale ivory. The whale rests on a separate curved pedestal, giving the small sculpture a lifted, swimming presentation. Signed H. Koozaata underneath the whale. Measures approximately 4" x 1.5" x 1.5".
