An illustrated leatherbound copy of Richard Irving Dodge’s Our Wild Indians: Thirty-Three Years’ Personal Experience Among the Red Men of the Great West, bearing the A. D. Worthington and Company copyright dated 1882. The volume documents its author’s nineteenth-century observations of Native peoples and military frontier life. Its historical interest lies in both the illustrated account and the period perspective it records. The dedication names William Tecumseh Sherman. The facsimile signature following the preface is printed, rather than an autograph. The photographed copyright page alone does not establish the printing or edition. The book is very fragile, with extensive spine-cover loss, old tape repairs, exposed binding structure and detached or loosening pages. Measures approximately 6" x 2" x 9" high.
