A finely detailed miniature walrus ivory seal-hunting scene by Siberian Yupik artist Lane Rookok (b. 1935) of Savoonga, St. Lawrence Island, Alaska. A hooded hunter sits low in a closed-deck kayak with his harpoon raised, while a seal rests at the stern and twisted cord links the hunting equipment. The compact composition captures boat, hunter and catch within a carving less than five inches long. Signed on the underside. Approximately 4.75" x 2" x 0.75" tall.
