Two Artist's Proof wildlife photographs by Alaska wildlife photographer Johnny Johnson (1947-2025). "Lone Polar Bear at Sunset", bearing a ©2004 inscription, captures a solitary bear facing the wind on the ice-covered shore of Hudson Bay, Canada. Its dark silhouette stands beneath a brilliant orange sun, the warmth of the sky giving way to deep purple across the snow and sea ice. The bear appears small against that immense expanse of ice and fading light, a striking glimpse of life in the harsh northern landscape. An artist biography and information about the work are attached to the reverse. The second, untitled photograph bears a ©1986 inscription and takes the viewer underwater among a school of spawning sockeye salmon. Fish crowd the emerald-tinted water at different depths, their dark red bodies and greenish heads a dramatic change from the bright silver of their ocean-going lives. These salmon have returned to freshwater to spawn near the end of their lives; after spawning, their bodies help return nutrients to the river ecosystem that will support another generation. Both examples are signed, dated and marked A/P in gold leaf ink in the lower left and right corners, and printed on Fuji Crystal Archive Supergloss paper. Each is shrink-wrapped on board for protection. The larger measures approximately 16.5" x 20.75" overall.
