Two signed and numbered photographs by Alaska wildlife photographer Johnny Johnson (1947-2025). The first work, "Denali - Pearl of the North", is dated circa 2004 and numbered 13/950. The accompanying description reads: "It is nearly midnight and I've finished photographing. I sit alone and watch. The air is cool and it is very still. The "Great One" sleeps and the silence is like thunder. It explodes across the land as the mountain begins to glow a blend of lavender and pink, like melted pearl. I stare at the sleeping giant's reflection and remember another night -the night of my climb to the summit when six silhouettes began the final push from 18,400'. My reverie ends as the wake of a muskrat cracks the mirror of thought and the cry of a loon breaks the silence." The second work, "The Edge of Night", is dated circa 2010 and numbered 177/950. The accompanying description reads: "As 'keepers of the light', Mt. McKinley and her family of lesser peaks reflect the last rays of the setting sun in the pristine waters of Wonder Lake. Located at the end of the Denali National Park road, Wonder Lake at sunset is a magical place. Inky shadows envelope the lowlands, while Denali and her sister peaks take on a shade of melted pearl. The spreading silence is like a drumbeat-broken from time to time by the cry of a loon or the distant call of a wolf." Both are signed, dated, and numbered in the lower right corners in gold leaf ink and printed on Fuji Crystal Archive Supergloss paper. Also included are 1997/98 The Art of Johnny Johnson catalogs, and an artist's biography sheet. The photographs are matted and framed under glass, one with some wear to the frame as photographed; the larger measures approximately 29" x 33" overall.
