Two unsigned expedition and wildlife photographs by Alaska wildlife photographer Johnny Johnson (1947–2025). The first photograph shows heavily laden backpackers crossing a partially thawed stream below snowy mountains. Red packs stand out against the snow as the travelers negotiate the broken ice with skis, poles and equipment. A dark belt of evergreens runs across the valley beneath the white mountain slopes. Estate notes associate this photograph with Johnson’s 1972 Overland Expedition of Mt. McKinley and a route beginning at park headquarters. The second photograph shows three travelers with seals on a snowy shore. The people wear bright outdoor clothing, and seals rest beside their equipment. Behind them, a long sweep of snow rises toward rugged peaks streaked with dark rock. Both photographs are framed; the larger measures approximately 20.25" x 24.25" overall.
