Three signed photographs by Alaska wildlife photographer Johnny Johnson (1947–2025). The first work is entitled "Sacred Ground," c.2014, numbered 267/950. Johnson describes the scene: “After months of cold and darkness, the icy grip of winter is but a distant memory. Fueled by the energy of eighteen hours of sunlight, new life explodes across the land. The cottongrass (arctic cotton) form a floral wreath around small kettle lakes-ancient relics of the last ice age-and twenty miles distant, the still ice covered mountains of Denali preside over the unfolding spectacle.” The second is entitled "High on Denali," c.2007, numbered 59/950. Johnson describes the scene: “An Alaskan bush pilot guides his DeHavilland Beaver over the Tokositna Glacier into the heart of Denali's Southeast face. Getting up-close and personal gives visitors a true appreciation of the immense proportions of Mt. McKinley and the difficulties climbers face in reaching it's summit.” The third is "The Edge of Night" c.2012, numbered 243/950. Johnson describes the scene: “As 'keepers of the light', Mt. McKinley and her family of lesser peaks reflect the last rays of the setting sun in the pristine waters of Wonder Lake. Located at the end of the Denali National Park road, Wonder Lake at sunset is a magical place. Inky shadows envelope the lowlands, while Denali and her sister peaks take on a shade of melted pearl. The spreading silence is like a drumbeat-broken from time to time by the cry of a loon or the distant call of a wolf.” All three are signed, dated, and numbered in gold leaf ink and printed on Fuji Crystal Archive Supergloss paper. The photographs are shrink-wrapped on board; the larger measures approximately 20.5" x 24.5".
