Manufacturer: High Standard Type: Pistol Model: Sport King Model 103 Caliber: .22 LR Barrel Length: 6.75" Optics: Iron Sights ATF Form 4473 Required: Yes Log: 4254 S/N: 1607308 Ref #: N/A Notes: A High Standard Sport King Model 103 .22 LR semi-automatic pistol with a 6.75-inch tapered barrel and single-action trigger. Dating to circa 1966 and manufactured by High Standard Manufacturing Corporation in Hamden, Connecticut, the Sport King represents the sporting side of the company's mid-century rimfire line. Its long, slender barrel, compact receiver and sweeping grip profile give this example the distinctive appearance of a traditional American field and target pistol. The blued steel frame and slide are paired with dark brown checkered synthetic grips carrying gold-colored Hi-Standard medallions. Fixed sights consist of a blade front and notch rear, with the extended barrel providing a longer sight radius than shorter-barreled versions. Angled rear slide serrations, a frame-mounted manual safety and a detachable box-magazine system complete the configuration. The Model 103 marking identifies the engineering series within the Sport King family. The Sport King was a more economical sporting counterpart to High Standard's specialized competition pistols, retaining single-action operation in a streamlined recreational configuration. Its .22 LR chambering combines mild recoil with economical rimfire ammunition, a useful pairing for informal target shooting and small-game applications. One detachable box magazine accompanies the pistol. The blued finish remains presentable, with light thinning and scattered handling marks on the barrel, slide and frame. The checkered grips retain defined texture and their inset medallions.
