Manufacturer: Savage Type: Rifle Model: Axis Caliber: 270 Win Barrel Length: 22" Optics: Nikon Buckmasters II 4-12x40 ATF Form 4473 Required: Yes Log: 4277 S/N: J740748 Ref #: N/A Notes: A Savage Axis .270 Winchester bolt-action rifle with a 22-inch barrel and mounted Nikon Buckmasters II 4-12x40 BDC scope. The matte black metalwork and synthetic stock form a practical sporting configuration, with a variable-power optic suited to the rifle's hunting and target-oriented chambering. The Axis was developed as an affordable sporting platform, combining a streamlined receiver, button-rifled barrel and detachable-magazine system. The black stock has a textured forearm, contoured pistol grip and ventilated rubber recoil pad. Its rotating bolt locks through two opposed front lugs, with a right-side ejection port and tang-mounted two-position safety. A conventional curved trigger and recessed underside magazine release complete the arrangement. One detachable box magazine is included, and no iron sights are fitted. The Nikon Buckmasters II scope is marked AR111 4-12x40 and bears serial 1101054. It provides a 4x-to-12x magnification range with a 40mm objective and BDC reticle designation. Black rings and receiver bases support the optic, with windage and elevation adjustments at the central turret assembly. The .270 Winchester's relatively flat trajectory and broad sporting-ammunition selection have made it a longstanding deer and other medium- to large-game hunting cartridge. In this example, it is paired with a conventional-length sporting barrel and a variable scope offering more magnification than a basic fixed-power sight. The rifle has handling scuffs and finish marks, with more visible abrasion on the synthetic stock. The Nikon housing has exterior scratches, and broad cloudy, spotted deposits are present on both the eyepiece and objective lenses.
