A black laser unit is mounted beneath the barrel at the frame's accessory interface. The two-tone finish, textured grip and full-size frame identify the appearance of the Value Enhanced Sigma-series configuration. No magazine is included. The SW40VE represents the Value Enhanced development of Smith & Wesson's Sigma line, combining revised grip contours with a stainless slide and a polymer lower frame. The platform uses a short-recoil locked-breech action and a striker-fired trigger mechanism, with rear slide serrations and a conventional right-side ejection port. The molded grip includes finger contours, textured panels and Smith & Wesson emblems. A frame-mounted magazine release and slide stop accompany fixed front-blade and rear-notch sights. The separate under-barrel laser housing adds a second sighting device to the installed iron sights. Its squared black housing fits closely beneath the forward frame. The laser did not power on during the staff check. The .40 S&W chambering reflects a cartridge widely associated with the service-handgun market in which the Sigma family was developed. The slide and frame have light scratches and handling scuffs, with minor exterior wear on the laser housing. Manufacturer and model markings remain legible.
