Manufacturer: Winchester Type: Shotgun Model: 1200 Caliber: 12 GA Barrel Length: 28" Optics: Iron Sights ATF Form 4473 Required: Yes Log: 4222 S/N: L1228077 Ref #: N/A Notes: A Winchester Model 1200 12-gauge pump-action shotgun with a 28-inch ventilated-rib barrel and Winchoke system. Checkered wooden stock and forearm panels are paired with a black aluminum-alloy receiver, blued barrel and Winchester buttplate. The barrel is marked for 2¾-inch shells, with a front bead above the rib and a knurled choke-tube extension at the muzzle. This example dates to circa 1979. Introduced in 1964 as the successor to the Model 12, the Model 1200 reflected a different approach to Winchester's repeating sporting shotgun. Its alloy receiver reduced weight, while the rotating multi-lug bolt locked into the barrel extension. Dual action bars connect the forearm to the mechanism, and a tubular magazine runs beneath the barrel. The Winchoke arrangement provides interchangeable choke constrictions, distinguishing it from a permanently fixed-choke barrel. The 28-inch barrel and ventilated rib give the gun the extended sighting plane and steady-swinging proportions of a conventional field shotgun. A crossbolt safety, action release and curved trigger complete the familiar manually operated repeating layout. The wood retains visible grain and a generally even finish, and most of the black receiver and blued barrel finish remains. Scattered handling marks and localized wear are present near the forearm edges, metal contact points and buttplate.
