The exposed hammer, contoured grip and separate frame controls echo the appearance of larger SIG centerfire pistols in a smaller rimfire format. Made in Germany for SIG Sauer, this example is accompanied by one detachable box magazine. The Mosquito was developed as a compact rimfire counterpart to the P226-style pistol. It uses double-action/single-action operation, with a fixed-barrel blowback mechanism that differs from the locked-breech action of the centerfire design. The .22 LR chambering brings mild rimfire recoil and economical ammunition to a pistol with familiar service-style controls and proportions. Textured grip panels and angled rear slide serrations are paired with three-dot iron sights using contrasting inserts. The pistol has an exposed hammer, ambidextrous slide-mounted safety levers and a separate frame-mounted decocking lever. A takedown lever and accessory rail beneath the barrel complete the external arrangement. The slide finish remains generally even, with light edge wear and scuffing near the muzzle and operating surfaces. The polymer frame and textured grips show minor handling wear, with additional finish wear around the ejection port and exposed barrel.
