Manufacturer: Springfield Armory Type: Pistol Model: XD-9 Caliber: 9mm Barrel Length: 4" Optics: Iron Sights ATF Form 4473 Required: Yes Log: 4406 S/N: US906716 Ref #: N/A Notes: A Springfield Armory XD-9 9mm striker-fired semi-automatic pistol in the 4-inch Service configuration. A stainless-finished steel slide contrasts with the black polymer frame and full-size textured grip. Front and rear slide serrations, fixed iron sights and an accessory rail beneath the barrel complete the two-tone profile. No magazine is included. Manufactured in Croatia by HS Produkt, the design entered the U.S. market under Springfield Armory's XD name in 2002. The Service Model combined a four-inch barrel with a full-size grip, occupying the middle ground between compact versions and longer target-oriented configurations in the family. Its action uses a short-recoil locked-breech system. The XD incorporates both a grip safety at the rear of the frame and a safety lever within the trigger. Other features include an ambidextrous magazine release, slide stop and frame-mounted takedown lever. A loaded-chamber indicator and striker-status indicator are additional identifying features of the design. The textured side panels and ribbed front and rear grip surfaces provide different gripping textures around the frame. The stainless-finished slide and black frame retain a generally presentable appearance, with light handling scuffs and minor finish wear. Small exterior marks are present around the serrations, muzzle and controls.
