A grooved wooden forearm is paired with a smooth sporting buttstock and ventilated recoil pad. The barrel is marked for 2¾-inch and 3-inch shells, and a brown padded nylon sling is attached. The parent Model 500 family was introduced in 1961, with the ATP designation associated with later special-purpose configurations. This example bears O.F. Mossberg & Sons, North Haven, Connecticut markings. Its relatively short barrel and rifle-style sights distinguish it from the longer, bead-sighted field versions of the same pump platform. Dual action bars connect the sliding forearm to the action, and a tubular magazine extends beneath the barrel. The receiver has a bottom loading port, top-tang safety and action release behind the trigger guard. The stock retains a conventional pistol-grip wrist, while the sling has an adjustable padded shoulder section and front and rear attachment hardware. The wooden stock and forearm show scratches, small dents and localized finish wear. The receiver, barrel and magazine tube have scattered handling scuffs and thinning on exposed surfaces. The rubber pad has edge wear, and the sling shows previous handling.
