Blued steel metalwork is fitted to a hardwood sporting stock with a curved grip, rounded fore-end and black checkered Winchester buttplate. Serial 16255 is stamped on the receiver. Produced from 1955 to 1963, the Model 77 formed part of Winchester's postwar sporting rimfire range. Its compact blowback action and detachable-magazine configuration offered a different repeating-rifle format from the company's familiar lever-action .22s. The plain wooden furniture and slender barrel retain the mid-century sporting appearance. The rifle has a crossbolt safety and retains barrel-mounted iron sights beneath the telescopic sight. The scope is carried in rings above the receiver and has a slender tube with knurled end components. The .22 LR chambering combines low recoil with economical rimfire ammunition, a longstanding pairing for informal target shooting and small-game sporting rifles. The wooden stock shows scratches, small dents and areas of finish wear along the fore-end and buttstock. The blued metal and scope tube retain much of their dark finish, with localized thinning and handling marks.
