Manufacturer: Mossberg Type: Shotgun Model: 500 ATP Caliber: 12 GA Barrel Length: 18.5" Optics: Iron Sights ATF Form 4473 Required: Yes Log: 4229 S/N: J103592 Ref #: N/A Notes: A Mossberg 500ATP 12-gauge pump-action shotgun with an 18.5-inch barrel, textured black pistol grip and ribbed synthetic forearm. This compact configuration has no shoulder stock. A brass-colored front bead is fitted near the muzzle, and an adjustable black carrying sling connects the rear grip assembly to the forward magazine-tube attachment point. The ATP was a special-purpose development of Mossberg's Model 500 platform during the 1970s. This example bears O.F. Mossberg & Sons, North Haven, Connecticut markings and serial J103592. Its pistol-grip furniture gives it markedly different proportions from the full-stock field and sporting versions of the same action family. The shotgun retains an under-barrel tubular magazine, dual action bars, tang-mounted safety and action release behind the trigger guard. Black-finished metal and synthetic gripping surfaces form an uncomplicated exterior configuration. The grip is contoured and textured, while the forearm has pronounced transverse ribs. The metal finish has scattered scratches and localized thinning around the receiver and action surfaces. The barrel retains a largely even dark finish, with light scuffing on the synthetic grip and forearm.
