A Ruger backpack-style soft case, case sling and one ten-round rotary magazine accompany the rifle. This configuration combines the familiar 10/22 action with a two-section arrangement designed for compact storage and transport. The Takedown model separates at the junction of the barrel/fore-end assembly and the receiver/buttstock assembly. That division allows the long gun to fit within its compact case while retaining a conventional shoulder-stock and barrel profile when assembled. Introduced in 2012, the Takedown extended the established 10/22 family into a particularly portable sporting format. A silver-finished receiver complements the stainless barrel, while the black synthetic furniture provides a contrasting, low-maintenance exterior. The fore-end has a barrel band, and the stock ends in a textured Ruger-marked buttplate. Factory iron sights remain fitted, and Ruger, Newport, New Hampshire and 10/22 markings identify the receiver. The variable-power scope is held in two rings on a receiver-mounted rail. Its 3–9×40 marking identifies a three-to-nine-power magnification range and a 40mm objective specification, adding a magnified sighting option to the rifle’s iron sights. The ten-round rotary magazine fits within the receiver’s magazine well, preserving the 10/22’s compact magazine profile. The .22 LR chambering and semi-automatic action place the rifle within the versatile recreational rimfire tradition, with mild recoil and a wide range of target ammunition. The metal and synthetic surfaces show light handling wear, and the rifle retains a clean, coordinated stainless-and-black presentation.
