Manufacturer: Smith & Wesson Type: Revolver Model: 629-1 Caliber: .44 Mag Barrel Length: 5.75" Optics: Iron Sights ATF Form 4473 Required: Yes Log: 4447 S/N: N938756 Ref #: N/A Notes: A Smith & Wesson Model 629-1 .44 Magnum stainless revolver with a 5.75-inch barrel and checkered wooden target-style grips. The six-shot cylinder is included, but the cylinder crane/yoke and the cylinder-release thumbpiece are missing. This is an incomplete example of Smith & Wesson’s large-frame stainless Magnum revolver. The barrel has a red-insert ramp front sight, an adjustable rear sight and a shrouded ejector-rod profile. The exposed hammer and broad trigger retain the double-action/single-action layout of the N-frame family. Smooth borders surround the checkered grip panels, with inset Smith & Wesson medallions providing a traditional contrast to the bright metal. The barrel is marked .44 MAGNUM, and MOD. 629-1 is stamped inside the frame. The Model 629 is the stainless counterpart of the Model 29, retaining the large-frame configuration associated with Smith & Wesson’s .44 Magnum revolvers. Dating to approximately 1982–1986, this dash-one example represents an early engineering variation within that stainless Magnum lineage. The cylinder accompanies the frame as a separate component. The stainless surfaces show scratches and finish wear, and the wood grips have handling marks and worn finish.
