Two detachable magazines accompany the pistol. The JCP is the larger .40-caliber member of Hi-Point’s familiar blowback-operated handgun line, with a full-height grip and an accessory rail beneath the forward frame. The striker-fired action uses a fixed barrel and a heavy slide, giving the pistol its characteristic tall upper profile. A manual safety sits on the left side of the frame, and rear serrations provide a grasping surface on the slide. Textured grip panels and extended magazine bases continue the practical, unadorned exterior treatment. The slide is marked Hi-Point Firearms, Model JCP and .40 S&W. A fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight form the sighting system, with no optical sight installed. The .40 S&W chambering and full-size construction distinguish the JCP from Hi-Point’s smaller 9mm C9, while retaining the maker’s emphasis on a simple, economical domestic design.
