Manufacturer: Winchester Type: Rifle Model: 94 Caliber: 30-30 Barrel Length: 20" Optics: Iron Sights ATF Form 4473 Required: Yes Log: 4311 S/N: 3298118 Ref #: 1461909 Notes: A Winchester Model 94 .30-30 Winchester lever-action rifle with a 20-inch barrel, straight-grip wooden stock and full-length tubular magazine. The compact receiver, exposed hammer and curved finger lever give this example the classic profile of Winchester’s enduring sporting carbine. This example dates to circa 1970. The rifle has a side loading gate, open-top receiver and a front sight paired with an adjustable open rear sight. Two barrel bands secure the forward assembly, and the slender wooden fore-end runs above the magazine tube. The buttstock terminates in a textured dark buttplate, maintaining the plain, practical furniture treatment. Winchester, Model 94 and .30-30 Win markings appear on the barrel. Introduced in 1894 and associated with John M. Browning’s lever-action design work, the Model 94 became one of the best-known American sporting-rifle families. Its close association with the .30-30 cartridge places this configuration firmly within the traditional North American woods-rifle category. The short receiver and straight stock produce a particularly trim silhouette, with the magazine contained beneath the barrel rather than projecting below the action. This example retains its conventional iron sights and wood furniture without a mounted scope. The stock and fore-end show handling scratches and dents, and the metal has finish wear along its edges and working surfaces. The barrel and magazine tube retain a generally dark finish.
