Manufacturer: Ruger Type: Blackpowder Revolver Model: Old Army Caliber: .44 Cal Barrel Length: 7.5" Optics: Iron Sights ATF Form 4473 Required: No Log: N/A S/N: 140-13118 Ref #: N/A Notes: A Ruger Old Army .44-caliber percussion revolver with a 7.5-inch barrel, dark finish and smooth walnut grips bearing Ruger medallions. The long barrel, solid-top frame and under-barrel loading lever give the Old Army its distinctive combination of traditional cap-and-ball form and Ruger revolver construction. This example dates to circa 1973. The six-chamber cylinder sits beneath a continuous top strap, with an exposed hammer and single-action mechanism. An adjustable rear sight and fixed front blade provide a defined sighting plane along the barrel. The loading lever remains mounted below the barrel, following the long forward profile. Ruger Old Army is marked on the frame, and the cylinder bears Black Powder Only and .44 Cal markings. These legends distinguish the percussion model from Ruger’s cartridge-firing single-action revolvers. The solid-top construction and adjustable sights also separate the Old Army visually from many open-top nineteenth-century-style reproductions. The metal shows handling marks, finish wear and a cylinder turn line. The wood grips retain their grain and medallions, with ordinary surface wear.
