Manufacturer: New England Firearms Type: Shotgun Model: Pardner SB1 Caliber: 12 GA Barrel Length: 18" Optics: Front bead missing ATF Form 4473 Required: Yes Log: 4299 S/N: NH431590 Ref #: 1444761 Notes: A New England Firearms Pardner SB1 single-shot shotgun in 12 gauge, with an 18-inch barrel, wood furniture and a color-case-finished receiver. The exposed hammer and hinged barrel give this Pardner the straightforward profile of a traditional American break-action shotgun. Its short barrel, plain fore-end and stock-mounted shell carrier distinguish this particular configuration. The Pardner belongs to the H&R/New England Firearms family of simple break-open sporting guns, built around a single chamber, exposed hammer and compact receiver. The design’s transfer-bar firing mechanism separates the resting hammer from direct contact with the firing pin. Its one-shot layout dispenses with a repeating magazine and the longer action needed to feed from one, giving the gun a narrow fore-end and straightforward overall form. A release lever sits beside the hammer, and a curved trigger is enclosed by an oval guard. The barrel bears the markings “PARDNER–MODEL SB1” and “12 GA. 3″ MOD.”, while the receiver identifies New England Firearms of Gardner, Massachusetts. The 18-inch barrel gives this example especially compact proportions within the familiar sporting single-shot form. Smooth brown wood forms the pistol-grip buttstock and matching fore-end. The stock has an H&R-marked black buttplate and a black elastic carrier with individual shell loops. The warm wood and mottled receiver finish provide the principal visual contrast to the dark barrel. Rust and finish loss are present along the barrel and around the receiver, and the front bead is missing. The stock and fore-end have finish wear concentrated along their edges.
