The combination of a smooth steel receiver, grooved wood fore-end and conventional wood buttstock reflects the Model 12’s classic sporting form. The installed Poly-Choke is a distinctive accessory, with a knurled collar and visible choke-setting marks around its body. The Poly-Choke incorporates the front bead and an adjustable constriction system at the muzzle. Its external collar and setting scale distinguish it from a plain fixed-choke muzzle or an internal screw-in choke tube. The shotgun retains a tubular magazine beneath the barrel and a compact ribbed sliding fore-end. Introduced in 1912 as the Model 1912, the Model 12 became a principal hammerless pump design in Winchester’s twentieth-century range. Its enclosed-hammer profile gives the receiver a clean upper line flowing into the buttstock. This example has a black Remington UMC-marked buttplate fitted to the Winchester stock. The receiver and barrel have extensive finish wear and scattered rust. The wood shows substantial finish loss, particularly around the wrist and fore-end, while the Poly-Choke markings and buttplate identity remain visible.
