A solid rib joins the paired barrels and carries a small bead front sight. The double-barrel arrangement, top lever and checkered wood buttstock give this example the traditional form of an American sporting double. The enclosed-hammer receiver has a rounded underside and traces of mottled case-color patterning. The twin triggers sit within an elongated guard beneath the action, while the barrels hinge at the receiver. The receiver and barrel assembly both carry serial number 6185, and the action flats are marked A and PAT. 2-13-1900. The brown wooden buttstock has a checkered pistol grip and black buttplate. Its checkering and shaped wrist provide visual detail against the smooth barrel surfaces. The fore-end is missing, leaving the underside barrel attachment exposed; no replacement fore-end is included in the photographed group. The metal is darkened with areas of oxidation. The buttstock has concentrated dents and finish loss around the wrist and lower edges, in addition to general use wear.
