The projectiles and caps are separate components, with their quantities tracked individually rather than combined as loaded ammunition. The Hornady selection includes 100 .36-caliber round balls, 100 9mm 115-grain FMJ round-nose bullets, 100 .45-caliber round balls and 100 .50-caliber 410-grain Great Plains hollow-base soft-point bullets in five 20-count boxes. The Great Plains bullets have an elongated profile distinct from the spherical lead balls. There are also 58 .54-caliber round balls, with the two related Hornady boxes labeled .530- and .535-inch diameter; approximately 83 Speer .445-inch round balls, estimated by weight; and nine .735-inch round balls. The .36- and .45-caliber Hornady packages identify .375- and .445-inch ball diameters, respectively. Open boxes and loose components are included. Package contents were checked unless factory sealed; the Speer quantity remains approximate because it was determined by weight. The cardboard packaging shows handling and storage wear.
