A miniature woven baleen basket with a removable lid topped by a carved ivory whale-tail finial. Broad brown strips cross the darker horizontal weave, creating a pronounced open texture around the rounded body. Pierced ivory starter discs anchor the basket and lid. The baleen shows surface wear, fine fraying and irregular strip ends. A faint underside inscription is not legible in the supplied photographs. The basket measures approximately 2.25 inches in diameter by 2.5 inches high.
