A carved whalebone salmon by Michael E. Scott, with an open, toothed mouth, strongly modeled gill covers and individually defined fins. Smoother carved surfaces across the body give way to the bone's porous texture at the head and tail. A slender support raises the fish above a second piece of whalebone, creating the impression of a salmon moving through the water. The eye accents appear to incorporate ivory and baleen. The base is inscribed ‘Mike Scott 89’. Overall dimensions are approximately 15 inches long by 5.75 inches wide by 10 inches high.
