A curved letter opener and a hooked polar bear-claw implement. The opener has a pale carved blade and shaped black handle bearing a Silver Hand label identifying Alaska Native handicraft. The claw tool has a pale bolster incised ‘T.H.L.’, a mottled brown handle and a drilled hanging hole at the handle end. The pale components appear to be whale tooth or walrus ivory, with a baleen-or-argillite opener handle and a whalebone handle on the claw tool. Surface wear, discoloration and fine lines are visible. The claw implement measures approximately 7 inches overall with a claw approximately 1.5 inches long.
