Two contrasting pottery pieces. An ovoid closed form has a rough, mottled cream-and-black surface crossed by smooth dark bands; a handwritten label identifies it as raku pottery by Jewel Gross Brenneman, and the base carries a circular Gross mark. The second is a rounded black-on-black Mata Ortiz jar signed Tavo Silveira underneath, with a polished surface, flared lip and repeating matte geometric decoration. The Silveira jar has a small hole through its base surrounded by chipped surface loss and fine cracks, as well as scratches and scuffs. The raku form has surface irregularities and small worn or chipped areas around its base. The raku piece measures approximately 5.5 inches in diameter by 6.5 inches high.
