A curved walrus tusk with scrimshaw depicting a musher and dog team, three geese in flight, two curled-horn sheep heads, a wolf and an orca. The reverse is signed Robert Pootoogooluk. The broad root end has an open natural cavity; the tusk tapers to a narrow tip. Condition includes yellow-brown toning, scratches and numerous longitudinal cracks. One long reverse fissure beneath the signature is visibly open with rough or chipped edges, more pronounced than a fine hairline. The tusk measures approximately 17 inches long and up to 1.5 by 1.25 inches across.
